Sports Marketing Intern

From January 2024 to May 2024, I interned with Duke University Athletics as a sports marketing intern. During my internship, I had the opportunity to work with many sports teams, most of which were ranked in the top 25 nationally. My responsibilities included drafting marketing scripts and memos, developing promotional strategies, and designing weekly event graphics in Photoshop to showcase upcoming home games.

This Week in Athletics Graphic

Each week, I designed a graphic that was distributed to over 30,000 Duke Athletics fans and students. The graphic included detailed information about upcoming sporting events and highlighted any marketing promotions associated with each game.

Duke vs North Carolina Men’s Basketball Game & College GameDay

I had the privilege of contributing to one of the oldest rivalries in sports and supporting ESPN’s College GameDay. This event attracted over 9,000 fans, and I coordinated many of the logistics for both College GameDay and the game itself. Additionally, I assisted with in-game marketing promotions, enhancing the overall fan experience.

Game Day Marketing & Activations for Men’s Basketball

A significant part of my internship involved working with one of the most historic men’s basketball programs in the country. I was responsible for coordinating national anthem and halftime performances as well as other pregame activities, ensuring smooth execution on game days. Additionally, I assisted with on-court promotions and activations, such as the Jersey Mike’s Fan of the Game and Harris Teeter’s Vic Card promotion, where lucky students could win gift cards by showing their promotional card. By assisting with these tasks, I contributed to executing marketing strategies that boosted fan engagement and enhanced the overall game-day experience.
